Curating assets in this month’s class created great results. It was very helpful to me. Before taking this class, I didn’t know the meaning of curating exactly, but while taking class, I can feel to curating assets are useful in many ways. Curating helped me throughout this course on several different levels. It provided convenience to me, and it helped my work have a more professional look and feel. I can reuse content on the internet to create some contents. It also has its value by making the content better suited for the goals what I want to achieve.
The curating habits I have developed due to experiences in New Media Tools is Symbaloo that helps curate web resources. I have not heard about Symbaloo before, but after beginning this class I made my account and started adding some tiles for Full Sail University, Facebook, YouTube and other useful information sites. I could always find and use their resources when I needed. The best thing is that I am able to share the Symbaloo, make it public and embedded it on class discussion board so that every student can easily access the information and even add additional tiles. It could easy to utilize for personal webmix in multiple purposes.
In the “Curation Before Creation” and the “Not All Digital Assets Are Equal”, the authors state quality is better than quantity when it comes to Digital Media Assets. I definitely agree that less is more. Fewer assets can be more helpful and valuable than many images. Having a smaller number of quality digital assets is more easy to adjust what clients were looking for. Quality over quantity is a simple concept but it is hard to keep. I believe it is the quote that I have to remember necessarily when I work in the media industry.
