Networking is more than important for your career searching so that many of job seekers try to make a good networking with various people even different working field. Nowadays, people are making their network using web services such as LinkedIn, Plaxo, Jobster, or Facebook. Otherwise, face to face opportunity is a still major way to create your networking, for example attending a career fair, meet a job officer at University. However, it is hard to decide what is the best way to keep and grow our networking because individual has a diverse personality and field. Thus, I propose several general tips to consolidate and widen your networking for your future jobs based on pre-validated articles.
At the first, I would recommend you to be a person who wants to meet other people. Even though we know that networking is important, some of people feel uncomfortable to meet others even fear to talk to them. But, explicitly, it will hurt your networking, so you should be familiar to meet and talk to others. I recommend joining clubs, for example, soccer club, dancing club or science club. It doesn’t matter what club you go, but it will help you to widen and getting familiar to be a person who likes to meet others.
Second, sometimes we may need to have an analog behavior for correcting business card even though we are more familiar with digitized medium. We have to remember that when you give your business card to others for your networking, you should get back their business card as well. If you missed the chance to get their card, you may fail to widen your networking for your future job. Correcting a business card is more than important since it is more formal way to contact someone rather than digitized medium.
Third, Do Not Stop to learning your field even though it seems not need to your career directly. If you hand off your learning, you will also lose your chance to getting wider your networking because there are a bunch of chances to meet others potentially. For example, if you are studying at IT though your field is a law, you can meet new people from IT and some IT guys could ask you work on IT area to solve many law related problems. That should be a totally new chance to create great networking.
Fourth, follow up your existing people on your network. Fortunately, networking services such as LinkedIn provides easy way to follow up. Open your eyes to them is important since many of people change their job or extend their business which means they may need YOU for their new business or new working place. Also, their networking is growing, then you can ask them to join into their networking. Sometimes, Follow up seems time-consuming and tedious working without any benefit, but it will give you a chance to widen your networking.
Sixth, a Dress code is important for your networking. You don’t need to wear a nice tuxedo or beautiful dress every time. Sometimes you need very casual wear or sports wears but you should keep your mind that your dress should follow the business code. If you are looking for working on Finance company then you should keep your dress very formally like a suit. But if you are looking for working in IT, a suit is not a good choice to meet the IT guys. Before you have a plan to meet somebody for your career network, you should keep in mind to show up yourself looks like your targeted person.
Lastly, you should be prepared and specified to a certain situation or certain environment. We can’t be a perfect guy for any situation or environment for our network to find a nice career. But we still have TIME to prepare certain situation. You should study yourself day by day. You don’t need to spend a lot of time to prepare and specified to a certain environment. But do not forgive to be a prepared person. It is not easy step even it is tedious time. However, it will definitely give a chance to consolidate your network and even give a chance to get great career since you can talk about any topic with various people and you can be shown yourself as an expert for everyone. It is really great way to create your networking.
I proposed seven tips to enhance your networking. It is not to keep in mind, but it is worth to get it for your great career.
