For this activity, I created proposal, site map, wireframe, and style guide to build web design strategy for the non-profit web site "Medicines Sans Frontiers". This is a process to prepare redesigning the web site. I could set outline for redesign plan and solution of the web site through this process.

Proposal

GOALS

The goal of this project is to redesign a non-profit website of MSF to let people know where they work and how they work more clearly. As a web strategist, I would make intuitive design considering User Interface that makes it easy for people to find what they want in this website. Some drop down menus that can bring confusion would be removed or organized. Also, using high quality photos and adjusting sizes of photos and texts would be needed to look clear and to attract people’s attention. It would be able to bring and deliver their values to audience with essential information. The site would also be made to work well for the web as well as mobile.

STRATEGY

  • Using current logo and brand as a foundation to start building website based on current aesthetic

  • Using clear and fresh colors following the color scheme of the client to attract audience’s attention.

  • Using high quality photos of working environment and people to appeal audience’s emotion and emphasize MSF’s value and mission.

  • Adjusting sizes of photos and texts of navigations and contents to look clear.

  • Adjusting layouts and navigations of the website to make more intuitive and simplify design.

  • Incorporation of graphics, images, photos, and fonts to enhance visual interest to make visitors easy to enjoy the site.

  • Development of main pages and functionality:

  • About Us – Explain about the organization from history to financial information with media and contact details.

  • Our Work – Explain about their workplaces and several issues related medical and humanitarian with annual reports and publications.

  • News & Stories – Explain their stories through various media such as videos, audio, slideshows, press, and blogs.

  • Work With Us – Provide opportunities to audience how they work and join in the MSF.

  • Support Us – Provide detailed information to audience for support and donation.

NEXT STEPS

In order to get started, I would construct Site Map, Wireframe, and Style Guide to set outline of the website. Identifying MSF’s purpose and target audience would be needed. They will provide proper direction to start redesigning the web site. The Medecines Sans Frontiers can expect simple and intuitive design with high quality photos to attract people’s attention and provide useful information people needed easily. The information I still need is what their keyword is and how they would like to use their keyword in the web site.
