RISE Self-Evaluation

For this activity, I did RISE self-evaluation to reflect my behavior and skills that I learned in this month in web design class. Self-evaluation helps to remind and review some things what I have done in this month.

REFLECT

• In this month, I really enjoyed the web design class and could learn many useful things about web design using CSS, User Experiences, and User Interfaces. I wanted to know about those things before the class because I have never learned them before, so all experiences in this class made me feel exciting and inspiring. I could see my skills in designing website were developing gradually within this month. If I had to grade my overall performance on a 100 point scale, based on what I created and not on effort or intent, I am confident I earned 100 point because I feel I did my best in this month to create non-profit redesign site, festival site, and conference site. Even though considering both web and mobile environment while creating web sites were difficult to me at first, it was helpful and great experiences after all.

INQUIRE

• As I started working on my projects, I realized I wanted to know more about HTML and CSS because if I can use them, I can create more designs what I want without template using content management systems like squarespace, six, and weebly. In order to learn them more, I could use some resources provided in the class from my professor and in Lynda.com. There are useful related resources about CSS and HTML from basic to intermediate in the Lynda.com. Also, I wanted to know more about user experiences and user interfaces to create intuitive web design for users to find information easily when they use a web site. I could develop these skills by doing my assignments for non-profit site, festival site, and conference site in this month.

SUGGEST

• If I had more time I would have watched more lectures in Lynda.com about CSS and HTML because I wanted to learn them more as I stated above. If I could use CSS and HTML for creating my web site, I could have created my own attractive design for three web sites that I created within this month. If it is possible, I will try to learn them myself and create my portfolio site or other sites by using them later. They will be helpful and useful in designing web site in the future. In addition, if I had more time I would have explored more about Google Analytics. Since my wix site is free account now, I couldn't use Google Analytics in my web site. However, when I upgrade the Wix account for my web site later, I would like to use Google Analytics in it.

ELEVATE

• I will use these web design experiences that I learned in this month in building my portfolio site next month and creating web sites for my clients in the future. I could learn and develop many skills for web design, and they gave opportunities to develop my career. I would give some advice to future students in the course. First, do your best when doing your assignment. Do not think your assignments are just assignments, they can be your opportunities and your great skills for your future. Secondly, learn yourself as much as possible. There are many useful resources on the web and lectures in Lynda.com. Use them and try to learn your lack things. They would help you to develop your skills to be more professional.
